January Blues: Mequon Nature Preserve
This painting was created for the annual 24 Hour Art Show Auction at the Arts Mill in Grafton, Wisconsin. Each artist was given an 11" x 14" canvas to work with and return after 24 hours, hence the reason for the name of the exhibit.
I used photos I had taken at the Mequon Nature Preserve on a January 16th hike to create a collage style sketch. Milkweed pods, dried leaves and flowers, and cool blues are all used to convey the winter temperature.
