Shells and Ground Surface Arrangement
India ink marker pens, pencil and colored pencil, 2015
While walking in Greenfield Park, I came across some shells along the banks of the lagoon. They were empty of life but varied in color. I am sure the Great Blue Herons had found good eating in these mollusks.
I had taken this photo in November of 2012. Teaching obligations and another artwork at the time took precedence I guess. But it worked out now. Even though I am sure these snails are non-native Wisconsin species, there is beauty to be found in their form and color, and the ground on which they rested.
