Milwaukee River Walk
Acrylic on Wood, 2014
I initially spent an afternoon making watercolor sketches of the animals for this painting. I took those studies and developed this composition. My goal was to reflect my surprise when I overturned a river rock and found a giant water bug. The bug bursts onto the scene breaking the calm of the water. The image also contains depictions of water skimmers, a dragonfly larvae, and an unknown larvae.
